EvoistiCks..

Statics = 2.65 Pounds.  That's the static number as actually measured between the 2012 Cannondale Super Six Evo Team and the 2011 non-Hi-Mod Super Six with Rival that I'm on.  In fact perhaps a bit more as the Evo measured sample was larger than a 52.

Dynamics = Aerodynamic Mavic Cosmic Carbon SLRs and smaller diameter carbon tubes will smooth the airflow and create lower drag at speed.

Mathematics = Power to weight ratio.  I'm a little guy.  I run, I lift, I eat right, but in the end, I'm of modest power generation, decent lungs and a strong desire to ride with a group of cyclists who have coaches and legs the size of my torso.  So drop a few pounds off the bike, and add some aero...  It won't hurt me none.

IntangiStics = I want one!  Nothing spices up the fun like some sweet new hardware.  Carpe Diem, the summer slips away...

New Hoops!

Industry Nine i30s!  Why do you ask??

Well it isn't because they weight in at only 1450 grams.  Although they do.  At that weight they are 3/4 of a pound lighter than the Aksiums that came on my Cannondale OEM.  It's also not because they are somewhat tall at 30 mm and thus they will be my first foray into a wheel with some aero aspect to the rim.

No the reason I bought them is that they can be built in Cremesicle!  What better reason to select a wheel set.  Henry agrees!

I Discovered Maryland!

Avenue...

This morning, on a run through the snowy grayness of early February, I dropped into the lower Alameda Park (across the bridge by the pavilion), to make my usual gravel road loop extension up the hill.  For some reason, after that small loop, I chose to head up a small path to the right (from the perspective of the bridge).  To my surprise it went on and on and included several left turn options and wooden bridges.  I stuck to the right (no surprise there, eh T?), and just kept forging ahead to see how far it went.

The trail went all the way to a small neighborhood I had seen from across the creek (on Alameda road), but had never been to.  It was an interesting little isolated neighborhood with a small (now defunct) corner store, and some interesting mid 20's or 30's "hill mounted" houses.

I popped out onto Mercer Road.  It was a great (albiet muddy) run.  A welcome distraction from my MBA studies.  Quite cool to live in a town your whole life and find something you never knew existed.

Unhooked

It has indeed been quite a while.  Aside from the unwavering commitment to spark an appearance near the winter solstice, the fact remains that in winter.. I am an inside cat.

But as winter comes, so it does pass.

As I lowered my ever patient bike from it's dusty perch, I thought the hook left above said something.  It's emptiness somehow speaking to the great season ahead. Somehow an analog to the blank slate..  full of possibilities.

Bombing into misty, shadowy valleys on country roads.  Transitioning through the frigid thermal layer in the lowlands.  Ascending into the morning sun with the heat of the sun in your face.  Will Cadel bring another victory?  Will we have good weather at the beach?  Another promising year ahead.

The cycle continues.  I'll see you all soon.

"Petey the Foos Dog" -- Get your Foos On!

That's right.  A secret weapon this year!

Original bred by East German secret police to infiltrate Foos dens frequented by subversives during the cold war, this pup is already better at Foos than my mom's cat, and the cat is 6 years old!  So you could say, yeah, I am preparing.  Like Rocky did with Apollo Creed, I'm spending time with a skilled tactician preparing for the main event, the TdL.  While it's annoying that he calls it "kicker" (he's German after all), we have a special understanding.  Each of us knowing inside that THIS is the year Kirk goes down.  One way or the other....  (Did I mention his razor sharp teeth?).

So get your Foo's on! and put your eye to the weather report -- or just hold out your hand if you're one of the crazy few still spinning around town in the dark at 6:00AM, and be ready to go on...  um..  on whatever the day is that we go.

Until then..  sTiCk

Willkommen Herr Brewer!

Butovia welcomes the Brewers with open arms!  Now the best stocked bike shop within 35 miles, the Brewer residence is already my favorite hang out having a handy supply of Holy Moses beer imported from Cleveland.  We had a great "first-ride" this afternoon on a nice sunny autumn day.
